Early Childhood

3-6 years old

In our early childhood program, children ages 3-6 are immersed in an environment that fosters a deep reverence for life. Every detail—from the natural materials of our toys to the rhythm of daily activities—is intentionally designed to nourish the senses and support healthy development.

Through purposeful and artistic work such as chopping, baking, sweeping, gardening, painting, finger knitting, sewing, and felting, children engage in hands-on experiences that strengthen fine and gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and sensory integration. These activities play a vital role in the natural progression of neurological development, supporting the refinement of movement patterns and the integration of early reflexes—laying the groundwork for focus, emotional regulation, and academic readiness in later years.

By engaging in meaningful, rhythmic work, children develop a deep connection to their environment, build resilience, and cultivate the foundational capacities for creativity, problem-solving, and social-emotional intelligence—skills that will serve them well beyond early childhood.

GRADES

Grades 1-6

In Grades 1–6, our program follows a steady daily rhythm rooted in Waldorf-inspired pedagogy and Classical education principles. Mornings are anchored by Main Lesson work, where academic subjects are introduced through story, movement, and artistic practice, while afternoons include specialty subjects, outdoor time, and hands-on learning that support the whole child.

In the early grades, formal learning emerges gently through imagination. Letters, numbers, and mathematical thinking grow out of fairy tales, storytelling, music, and art, preserving the child’s sense of unity with the world. Students are introduced to music through learning the flute, alongside rich experiences in movement, speech, painting, form drawing, nature studies, and specialty subjects such as foreign language, handwork, and eurythmy.

As students progress, learning becomes increasingly practical and grounded. Children explore farming, building, measurement, geography, and the natural world, gaining confidence and responsibility through meaningful work. Literacy, writing, and mathematics deepen, with growing emphasis on structure, clarity, and skill mastery.

In the upper elementary years, students expand their perspective outward and inward. They study geography, mythology, botany, zoology, ancient civilizations, and early world history, while mathematics advances into fractions, decimals, geometry, percentages, and real-world applications. Scientific thinking is introduced through observation and experimentation in physics and earth science.

Throughout Grades 1–6, artistic work, movement, music, and outdoor play remain essential to the rhythm of the day. As students mature, they are guided from imaginative learning into logical thinking and independent expression, building a strong foundation of curiosity, resilience, and academic confidence that prepares them for the years ahead.

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Middle School

Grades 7-8

In middle school, our program supports students as they move into deeper independence, critical thinking, and self-awareness. Learning continues to follow a steady rhythm anchored by Main Lesson work in the mornings, with subject classes, movement, artistic practice, and experiential learning woven throughout the day. At this stage, students are developmentally ready to question, explore, and engage more consciously with the world around them.

As students enter seventh grade, the curriculum reflects a growing curiosity about both the outer world and their inner lives. History and humanities explore the Age of Discovery and the Renaissance, following explorers, artists, scientists, and thinkers who challenged existing authorities and reshaped human understanding. Art and science flourish side by side through perspective drawing, anatomy, astronomy, chemistry, physics, and mechanics, allowing students to experience transformation, cause and effect, and the laws governing both the physical world and the human body. Mathematics expands into negative numbers, algebraic thinking, and more advanced geometry, while writing and discussion grow more reflective, analytical, and expressive.

By eighth grade, students stand at a threshold—bringing together years of foundational learning with emerging clarity and voice. History turns toward the formation of modern society through American government, industrialization, and technological change, inviting students to examine not only what happened, but how different choices and values might have shaped another path. Science continues through a phenomenological approach, emphasizing careful observation and discovery before theory, with studies in anatomy, chemistry, physics, meteorology, and computer science. Algebra I and solid geometry strengthen abstract thinking and problem-solving.

Throughout middle school, students develop their capacity to think logically, write clearly, speak confidently, and engage ethically with complex ideas. Artistic work, music, movement, and hands-on experimentation remain essential, balancing intellectual rigor with creativity and embodied learning. Socially, older students step into leadership within the school community, mentoring younger students and participating in service-based projects that strengthen responsibility and empathy.

By the end of eighth grade, students are prepared to meet the next stage of their education with confidence—able to reason independently, communicate effectively, and stand firmly in their emerging sense of identity and purpose.

In this foundational art class we will journey into the world of watercolor, block crayons, and handwork.

Watercolor invites a sense of flow and wonder as children experience how colors blend and breathe on the page, encouraging patience, presence, and emotional expression.
Block crayons, with their broad strokes and rich pigments, support fine motor development while allowing young artists to explore form and story through color.
Handwork connects mind to hand and engages the fine motor skills to create beautiful works of art.

Our Art Essentials class fosters a soulful connection to creation, honoring each child’s inner world and natural rhythm of learning.

We will conclude with a special student art showcase on the final day, inviting families to celebrate the creativity and growth of our young artists.
